Ee Jung is still owning everyone with his saxophone. Annoying Guy notices a pretty girl (Ga Eul, but he doesn’t recognize her) and walks up to her. When she turns around to look at him, he’s surprised to see her like this and asks her, “Why didn’t you go around like this sooner?!” Then he has the nerve to ask her out again :(.
Ee Jung asks her about Annoying Guy, “Do you know him?” “No, I don’t know him.” SOMEONE BUY THE GIRL A DRINK. Then Ee Jung turns to the crowd to announce about Ga Eul, “THIS IS THE GIRL WHO HAS TAKEN MY HEART AND IS UNWILLING TO RETURN IT.”
Outside, Ee Jung takes off his scarf and wraps it around Ga Eul’s neck. And moves her hair out the way. I AM SUCH A GIRL, but little gestures like that really make my heart go dokidoki. BIG TIME. He tells her that even though it’s just acting, it should be perfect till the end.
then we see Ga Eul trying to make a Valentine’s Day gift for Ee Jung. alsjdkfls! Ga Eul asks if Jandi is preparing chocolates for Jun Pyo … Jandi scoffs at that.
SHE IS MAKING HIM SOMETHING BETTER. JUN PYO SHAPED COOKIES. Cutest thing ever!
They meet up; Jun Pyo is wearing another coat that makes his waist look enviously tiny. Jun Pyo gets very excited at Jandi’s present for him. SO FLIPPING CUTE. Jun Pyo reacts with some surprise…
Jandi and Jun Pyo enter a couple contest to win a free cell phone, lol. Can you see how excited Jun Pyo is?
Jun Pyo tells her, “I’m so ashamed! If they knew the president’s son was doing this, there would be an article in tomorrow’s lifestyle section.” LOL!!! He continues, “If you need a cell phone, just tell me and I’ll buy one for you.” Jandi tells him, as she readjusts her hold around his neck, that she wants to win the cell phone on her own ability.
THEN HIS MOM SHOWS UP. HIS MOTHER ALSO MELTS SCRAP METAL WITH HER GLARE. SHE IS FABULOUS!!!
Jun Pyo quickly drops Jandi, who hides behind him. Jun Pyo is led away by his mom’s cronies…!
This next scene was superb, imo. Really enjoyed this! Ga Eul is waiting outside of Ee Jung’s house, clutching her Valentine’s Day gift for him. BUT EE JUNG SHOWS UP WITH TWO WOMEN ON BOTH ARMS. Ga Eul looks on awkwardly and one of the women says that Ga Eul must be there to give Ee Jung a Valentine’s Day present!
Ee Jung and company make Ga Eul come inside for some tea … where she discovers that Ee Jung has a table laden with Valentine’s Day gifts. She looks at her own gift for him… Ee Jung looks at his gifts nonchalantly and tells Ga Eul, “Just leave yours there too.” (WHY CAN’T I HATE HIM?)
Something in Ga Eul snaps and she excuses herself hastily, running out. Ee Jung runs after her. He tells her, “This is why nice girls are annoying. Listen well: acting is just acting. It’s problematic if you misunderstand that.” (STILL TRYING TO HATE HIM, STILL FAILING.) Then he takes Ga Eul’s gift, telling her, “I’ll keep this until you meet the person of your destiny. Thanks.”
Meanwhile, Jandi is just wandering alone after Jun Pyo was manhandled into a car and whisked away. Ji Hoo offers her a ride home on his motorcycle. Jandi asks how he knew; he tells her that Jun Pyo called to let him know.
He drops her off at home and they talk a bit about what might happen. Jandi sort of shrugs it off, saying, “To be honest, it’s not like Jun Pyo and I have something serious.” WHAT. :( This is serious! I am foregoing sleep, schoolwork, and a social life just to watch you two lovebirds get together on Monday and Tuesdays!
President Kang looks at pictures of Jun Pyo and Jandi and gets very angry. (And very fierce.) She wonders how someone like Jandi could even get into Shinhwa High and her henchman tells her, “You’re the one who ordered it.” (To cover the backlash after that one student almost jumped to his death because of suffering at the hands of F4.)
Jun Pyo barges in, warning his mother, “DON’T TOUCH HER.” She asks him, “Do you see your mother as someone with that much free time?” Jun Pyo tells her to forget it then.
He looks soooo much like Yon-sama (Bae Yong Joon) with glasses! Jun Pyo pays him a visit. JI HOO TAKES A BITE OUT OF JUN PYO’S HEAD.
Jun Pyo says, “Why do I feel so uneasy? I feel like something is going to happen to that kid. The thing that scares me the most is … that the moment she is in danger, I may not even know about it.”
Ji Hoo brings Jun Pyo some tea. BONDING! FRIENDSHIP! THANK YOU DRAMA GODS! It’s about time! Ji Hoo tells him, “Don’t worry. You know very well that Geum Jandi isn’t weak.” Let’s look at Jun Pyo’s reaction to that statement. Then Ji Hoo tells him, “Don’t be afraid either. We’re always backing you up from behind.”
President Kang pays Jandi’s family a visit. President Kang compares her son’s relationship with Jandi to that of grass growing in a golf course… “Do you know what the most important thing to growing grass is? It’s pulling out the weeds … the weeds that do more harm than good to the grass, and which cannot be left together.” No guesses on who she means by “weed”!
President Kang offers their family 300 million won if Jandi will just sign a contract agreeing to cease her relationship wtih Jun Pyo. JANDI’S MOM FLIPS OUT AND DUMPS A BOWL OF SALT ALL OVER PRESIDENT KANG’S HEAD. “NO, NOT THE FUR!” Then shouts at her, “Get out right now! How can you call someone a ‘weed’ right in front of her parents?!?!”
Later, the family congratulates Jandi’s mom on standing up to President Kang like that and admiring that she chose pride over the money. Jandi’s mom scoffs and says, “No, it’s all about the money.” She says that they can’t accept 300 million won because WHAT IF JANDI MARRIES JUN PYO. KA-CHING! Jandi seems upset by the whole thing, though…
Um, I didn’t really get this scene lol, but it was pretty (pretty people playing on a pretty piano, yes please!) so have some caps :D!
Jandi gets home to find out that their dry-cleaning business has been shut down, undoubtedly the work of President Kang.
So Jandi and her family decide to sell rice crackers, coffee, and other snacks on the street.
Meanwhile, Jun Pyo and his mother are in a car idling up that very same street Jandi and family are selling their rice crackers.
President Kang suggests that they buy some rice crackers, while Jun Pyo looks at his mother in alarm/surprise and asks her, “Are you in your right mind? President Kang is going to buy rice crackers off the street? Are you sick or something?”
He makes a move to get out of the car and go after Jandi, but his mother holds his hand to stop him from growing. (I know I’m a lost cause when the only thing I can think of in this scene is DAMN I WANT TO HOLD HIS HAND TOO.
President Kang tells her henchman to throw those rice crackers away, scoffing, “Selling something you eat in a smokey hole like this is absolutely senseless. Get rid of it immediately.” Jun Pyo looks at his mother angrily.
See, this was supposed to be a big kiss! I mean, IT IS, but WHAT THE HAAAAALE AT THE SHODDY LIGHTING! :( :( :( :( :( SLJFKSDLJDSFL WE CAN’T EVEN SEE FACES OR LIPS OR ANYTHING :(. So please do enjoy these promo shots that I saved off soompi a while ago and have been obsessing over since XDD — one, two, three!
Lots of caps of this next scene because I loooooved what they were saying to each other, how they were looking at each other, the little subtleties of the whole scene, etc. And also because THE HEIGHT DIFFERENCE WILL NEVER STOP BEING COMPLETELY ADORABLE TO ME ♥
He asks her to promise him, “that when something happens, you’ll tell me right away.” She agrees. “One more. That no matter what happens, you won’t run away from me.” I ACTUALLY SIGHED OUT LOUD AT THIS. She says that sometimes it’s JUN PYO that makes her want to run away from him, but she tells him, “I promise the reason won’t be your mother.” Jun Pyo says, “I’m glad that commoner gangster Geum Jandi is my girlfriend.” Then, “That promise is a real relief.”
Jandi is trying to find jobs to make ends meet. A patron at the porridge shop offers her an opportunity, telling her, “Our company uses a lot of student models.”
A bunch of gangsters attack Jandi’s parent’s roadside shop.
Ee Jung and Ji Hoo are hanging out at the F4 hangout. I SOLEMNLY SWEAR I AM UP TO NO GOOD. Ji Hoo takes Ee Jung’s phone, dials Ga Eul, and puts the phone next to Ee Jung’s ear when Ga Eul picks up.
We find out that Jandi has taken a job pumping gas. Ji Hoo pulls up to the pump. She’s surprised to see him. They chat for a bit and Ji Hoo asks her, “Don’t you think you’re overdoing it?” Jandi says, “Do you not know me? It’s me! The commoner representative of Korea, Geum Jandi.”
Ji Hoo says, “Your body is saying that’s a lie right now.” He helps her wipe the blood away. As he’s cleaning her face, he tells her, “It makes me feel bad.”
He stops after that, as recognition of what he just said dawns on him. Then he backs away and hastily corrects himself, “If I were Jun Pyo, I would feel bad.” WHERE IS THIS GOING, I AM CONFUSED.
Jandi asks that he not tell Jun Pyo about all her side jobs because she wants to take care of things herself. Ji Hoo says, “I’m envious of Jun Pyo” (really, where is this going; I feel bad for Ji Hoo ;__;) and leaves.
Thought this was such a cute scene! Jandi is walking her brother to school, I think? Some kids run by and tease her brother about him skipping lunches. She asks him why he didn’t tell her and he says, “In the morning, you have milk and newspaper deliveries. In the day, you have the porridge house. At night, the gas station. How can I tell you? I won’t die because I skip a meal.”
Jandi discovers the creepy card in her pocket and decides to look for this other job. She runs into a mysterious guy (who looks hot from the back, lmao why am I so shallow), who wordlessly helps pick up her card and walks off.
